Hello! I’m Laura, slipcover maker for customers in the Massachusetts North Shore area and beyond!
I specialize in custom slipcovers, as well as offering custom services in bedding, pillows, indoor and outdoor cushions, window treatments, minor upholstery, and home accessories. All work is done from my in-home smoke-free workroom.
Sewing came naturally to me. From an early age, I noticed I had a passion for fabrics and sewing. When I was young, my grandmother in Romania first taught me how to sew, as she worked on projects regularly for her clients. She taught me many of the basics like how to measure, cut, and adjust for a proper fit, and how pieces are assembled. My mother too was always as creative as she was hardworking, and I think she instilled in me a drive to work hard, and come up with creative solutions. Most of all, from the two of them I learned a bit about the patience it takes to get a project done, and to do things the right way.
I have been working in the industry for over 20 years now. It has been a long journey since my days sewing with my grandmother in Romania. Along the way, I was fortunate enough to work on many interesting projects, experience some great workrooms, and collaborate with some terrific people. Working on my own, I have created a diverse range of installations for a variety of spaces including restaurants, offices, museums, and homes, both old and new.
Taking on a new project, I always find that every space is different; each fabric has its own character, and every custom piece tells its own story. There are always new challenges along the way, and I enjoy finding creative solutions to each of them. It really thrills me to work through the challenges of a project, and to see how the final installation transforms its space.
